Mission Statement

About iHunt

Building the most rigorous, independent, and conservation-minded resource for serious North American hunters.

Why We Exist

The hunting media ecosystem is broken. It is dominated by pay-to-play gear reviews, sponsored destination fluff, and “grip and grin” content that offers zero utility to the actual hunter.

We built iHunt because we needed a platform we could actually use. A place where state regulations aren't hidden behind confusing government PDFs, where gear reviews involve actual field testing to failure, and where outfitter directories surface legitimate guides rather than whoever bought the biggest banner ad.

Stewardship & Heritage

Hunting as the Cornerstone of Conservation

At iHunt, we believe that ethical, regulated hunting is the single greatest force for wildlife conservation and habitat preservation in the world. Through the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, wildlife is held in the public trust and managed through rigorous biological science rather than commercial exploitation.

More than a century ago, unregulated market hunting pushed iconic species—including Rocky Mountain elk, whitetail deer, pronghorn antelope, wild turkey, wood ducks, and bighorn sheep—to the brink of extinction. It was hunters who stepped forward to champion strict season limits, fair chase laws, and self-imposed funding mechanisms that restored North America's wildlife populations to the thriving ecosystems we steward today.

Hunter-Funded Habitat

Through state hunting licenses, tag draw fees, Federal Duck Stamps, and the Pittman-Robertson Act's 11% excise tax on firearms, ammunition, and archery gear, hunters contribute billions of dollars directly to state wildlife agencies and public land acquisition.

Science-Based Management

Regulated harvest quotas and unit-specific draw allocations keep big game, waterfowl, and predator populations in balance with their habitat's biological carrying capacity—preventing winter starvation, overbrowsing, and disease transmission.

Ecosystems for All Wildlife

Every acre of wetland, alpine forest, prairie, and Wildlife Management Area (WMA) conserved through hunter dollars protects critical habitat for hundreds of non-game birds, mammals, and native plant species alongside game animals.

Our Editorial Standard

  • Independent Gear Testing

We buy our primary testing gear at retail. If a manufacturer sends us equipment, we explicitly disclose it, and they get no editorial oversight. If it fails, we write about it failing.

  • Tactical Utility Over Entertainment

Every article, state breakdown, and field guide we publish must justify its existence by making you a more knowledgeable, effective, and ethical hunter.

  • Conservation & Fair Chase Stewardship

We champion strict adherence to state wildlife regulations, fair chase ethics, full utilization of wild game, and active support for the state conservation agencies and public lands that make American hunting possible.
